Fun in the sun!

12:15 pm
I am feeling mixed emotions today. I am super thrilled because we got the news that Libbi can go home as far as her heart is concerned, the jaundice is what's keeping her here but she is well enough to move to the floor, out of the PICU. We are waiting for a room to open up there. If she didn't have jaundice we'd be heading home :( Her test only went from 16.9 to 16.5 overnight and it needs to be below 15. However Koy and Jerzi both had to be under lights and they were only 10-14 so i'm not sure how low we need to get it to get to head home. They will test her again at 4 pm and every 12 hours. Until then she is just hanging with her sunglasses and getting a nice tan, she doesn't like the snow either!! So great news about heading home so soon!! The news about her heart was confusing (of course) and a little different than what we had heard previously. Apparantly her right ventricle is to small, almost non exsistent, to even try to repair it so as far as artificial valves, that will not be done. Instead they are treating it as a single ventricle repair, not a one and one half ventricle repair. A single repair requires 2 different surgeries, each re-routing arteries to different areas. One surgery is to be around 4 months, called the Glen, and the other at 2-3 years, called the Fontan. We are trying to just live in the moment and be excited to take her home but i want to vomit thinking about an open heart surgery on my baby in 4 months, and even worse a 3 year old. Jerzi's tonsils was stressful enough, I can't even imagine how hard that will be for her, and us. That is a long way away and so far I am a believer in miracles so i will have a few months to keep praying for that miracle!! She's obviously a fighter and maybe she will get through with no surgery at all, but i'm afraid that's asking too much. We are just lucky to have her and we are so excited to take her home and treat her as a normal newborn, with no wires and meds. We will deal with what's next when it comes and try to enjoy each day with her and our other kids! It really makes me appreciate life and what a blessing it is to live each day to the fullest! Thanks for all your concern and prayers, we know without a doubt they have helped!

That's wonderful news about being able to come home! She is definitely a little fighter and example to all of us. Let us know if we can help with anything. Uncle Troy.

She looks so cute, and I love that she is not attached to any tubes!! Lucky girl!! I'm sorry about her right ventricle. It is very similar to 2 of the 3 surgeries Jake was going to have to undergo. You have already learned to just enjoy each day at a time. There will be plenty of time to worry, but for now, get the nursery room ready, cause here she comes!! :)

I'm so glad to hear she is doing ok. Hey, jaundice isn't too bad. She is such a precious baby!

This is Paul Cardell's CHD video. (I put it at the bottom of the blog, it fits best there..) It is shocking how many people, young and old are dealing with the same type of things we are. Take 9 minutes and watch, these are some of the cutest babies i've seen!! Libbi is about 6 and a half minutes into the video. (make sure you scroll down and pause my music playlist so you can hear his music, he is a pianist, it is very pretty!)
