Jakey's Blankey's

This is Angel Jake. He would've been 1 on Feb 9 and his family is honoring him by raising money to make blankeys for their hospital in AZ. I have become good friends with Liz and want to help her out with her goal so please lets all help! Even if you can just donate $5, it would be great. When i was pregnant with Libbi, they were working on these blankey's and sent me one, it made me so happy in a time i was really afraid and sad. I ordered another one so now she has 2! They are made out of minky material and are SOOO warm and fuzzy! Let's help celebrate Jake by donating to this cause! You can also order the blankey's for your kiddos, there is a link on their blog under fun sites, Sophia's closet.
Check out their blog at http://tylerelizabethdennison.blogspot.com/

Iron update

Libbi's iron was just fine. When she turns 1 he will put her on an iron maintenence supplement, just to be sure, because she will stop eating formula with iron and go to whole milk. At 18 months they'll test her iron again and if it's low they will need to up the amount of maintenence. No big deal, she's doing great! ...now if we could just get her to smile! She's such a sour puss, she won't smile for anyone but us, and that is rare!!

9 month well visit at 10 months

We went in today for Libbi's well visit, it is actually one month late because at 9 months we were seeing Dr. Menon at Primarys so that counted at that time as a visit. So today was fairly easy, just a finger prick. Her hemocrit was 51% which is high and Dr. Rose wanted me to take her to the hospital to get another reading, taking the blood from her arm instead of a finger. I have emailed Dr. Menon to see what his opinion is, but i think i remember that it was ok for it to be high, which Dr. Rose agreed but he is uncertain how to check her iron with a reading so high. I am waiting to hear, but be assured that it is just an iron issue not a heart issue. She is doing well :) She is growing, which is no surprise to anyone who has seen her! She's a fatty!
Here are here stats:
Length 27.5 inches 26%
Weight 18 lbs 3 oz 26%
Head 45 cm 70%
As you can see, she is just fine in the growth department! She used to be 15% but has gone to 26th!
We continue to be grateful for her and how well she is doing. It is very humbling, we aren't sure why we deserve to have such a happy healthy heart baby.

Libbi's sippy cup

I am trying to introduce the sippy cup to Libbi to make the bottle-taking-away a little easier. She had it tonight for the 2nd time is all. I would give her a bite of food and then she would take a drink, then open up for another bite, then take a drink and so on and so forth until dinner was done! I was cracking up! I don't even know if she was actually even drinking anything or just gnawing on the silicone spout. Anyway, it was funny!

18 pounds!

Libbi had her second synagis shot yesterday and they weighed her, she weighs 18 pounds! Holy cow i was shocked! She is a chub!! Her 9 month well visit will actually be at 10 months. We go on Jan 22, i will let you know her stats! I'm curious to see where she is at because i feel like 18 pounds is HUGE for her. She has been in the
15th percentile in the past. We will see...

9 months!

I'm a little late, she is actually 9 months and 12 days now..

*She has 2 bottom teeth, they came almost at the same time, only a couple days apart!
*She crawls everywhere and pulls herself up onto almost anything!
*She is eating anything she finds on the floor, (i know yuck) and lots of baby foods. She isn't real fond of carrots, but she likes all the rest.
*She clicks her tongue and now if we do it first, she'll start it up
*She also says 'mama mama mama' on command
*We are learning patty cake, i've got her to do it a few times for me, but she won't do it for anyone else.
*When she gets shy or around someone she isn't familiar with she burries her head in my shoulder. I LOVE IT! She is not a cuddly baby, none of my kids have been :(
*She squints her nose when she smiles really big. It's adorable!
*She loves to take baths with Jerzi, she just laughs and splashes with her. They'd stay in there all day if i'd let them!
Libbi is just growing so fast, i think this might just be my favorite age. From now until they start to talk back :) I love watching them learn and grow. It's fun to see her learn things that we teach her, it's amazing to me.

Happy 9 months Libster, only 3 more and you'll be 1! WOW!!
This is Paul Cardell's CHD video. (I put it at the bottom of the blog, it fits best there..) It is shocking how many people, young and old are dealing with the same type of things we are. Take 9 minutes and watch, these are some of the cutest babies i've seen!! Libbi is about 6 and a half minutes into the video. (make sure you scroll down and pause my music playlist so you can hear his music, he is a pianist, it is very pretty!)
