KURT , MINDI & LIBBI DIXON
As many of you know, Libbi Dixon (daughter of Mindi and Kurt Dixon) was born with some serious heart defects, some of which include holes, valves that don’t function properly, and entire lobes not doing what they’re intended to do (medical terms? Not sure) They found out about her heart defects prior to birth and have dealt with the task of giving her all the love, care and support she needs, throughout her life. To this point, she is now 3, she has already undergone one open heart surgery 6 months old known as the Glen procedure (http://www.smileyman.info/Glenn%20Procedure.htm), & several caths(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiac_catheterization) (I think 3). She is scheduled to have her 2nd open heart surgery this summer, known as the Fontan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fontan_procedure.svg). The family has been through many emotional struggles as a result of this. There have been times they didn’t think she would make it through a normal birth, and times they didn’t expect her to live past a few months, but time and time again she keeps fighting and proving her strength, thus the term “Libbi Strong”. We ask for all your prayers for Libbi this summer, and wear your shirts on July 23rd to show extra support, Mindi is a bit crazy and loves that kind of support.
Also if you want to see the history of Libbi, Mindi has done a great job of blogging about their journey at http://libbisblog.blogspot.com/.
She wants to make it very clear that this is NOT a fundraiser, (the goal is to break even), rather a way to show support for Libbi on her surgery day, and whenever you feel like being “Libbi Strong”.
Mindi has put a great deal of effort into designing, ordering and organizing the distribution of these shirts, so if you would like to support our little Libbi, there will be a sign up sheet in the CF area, she would like to place an order for the shirts by this coming Friday the 22nd.
