Monday again

July 30
Well it's Monday again! One week we've been here. I have been a horrible blogger, fb has taken over. I hope to copy and paste all my fb posts to the blog once I get home but for now.. We are still here due to rhythm issues, she did not have P waves for quite sometime, they are putting in a pacemaker :( we are waiting on the results of a holster monitor she had on for 24 hours (sat12-sun12) that will help us determine how much she slips out of sinus rhythm (good) into junctional (bad). We are praying that it all looks well, and we don't need to go down the pacemaker road. They are also doing an echo this morning. I will post the results and the plan as soon as I know.

I have not done very good at updating the blog :/ I will post lots of pics and details when I get home.. But I had to record this conversation :( just now Libbi said I wanna go home.. Me: we will honey. L: are we never gonna go home? Me: we are, pretty soon L: no we aren't M: (sobbing) yes we are as soon as you get better L: but the drs fixed my broken heart Her little sweet voice is the saddest part. No crying, no screaming, just very matter of fact brave talking. Bravest little girl I know for sure.

Popsicle!!

6:45pm Libbi is doing great!! The np eric actually said she is about 6 hours ahead of the curve as far as recovering! Her tube was out in the operating room, so we didnt even have to see that..phew!! She has a fever, but it's going away quickly enough to not worry.. She also has an atrial wire to help the top and bottom of the heart "talk". They aren't wanting to work together quite yet, but again, nothing to worry to much about. She got to have a popsicle, and next up ...a sippy! She REALLY wants milk!!! But that'll have to wait.. Juice first :)

11:05 am

2 hrs 15 minutes still waiting for the 2nd update!! Aaaaaaagghhhhh!!! The first update was at 8:50am just letting us know she was asleep and lines were in and they were beginning. They said they'd be back in an hour to an hour and a half... 2hr 15min later..... Going crazy!!!!

She's off..

7:55am They came and took her a bit ago.. They gave her some versed to calm her and the cute anesthesiologist gave her his cell phone with talking tom.. She went with him without a bat of the eye (he was kinda cute;)) I can't believe this day is here. I am really scared to see her :/ but for now I will live hour by hour. First update should be in about an hour.

Ok many of you have already my heart tattoo crush.. Yes i have a crush on the TATTOO, not the man. BUT he did just take 2nd place in the CROSSFIT GAMES this weekend!! Matt Chan. Our new fav :)

This was the post that Lindsay (our trainer) posted, and after that post, the Libbi shirts went CRAZY!! I ended up ordering over 250 shirts! WHAAAT?!? This Saturday, July 21, everyone is wearing their shirts and we're doing a workout titled "Libbi" stay tuned for that... :)

KURT , MINDI & LIBBI DIXON
As many of you know, Libbi Dixon (daughter of Mindi and Kurt Dixon) was born with some serious heart defects, some of which include holes, valves that don’t function properly, and entire lobes not doing what they’re intended to do (medical terms? Not sure) They found out about her heart defects prior to birth and have dealt with the task of giving her all the love, care and support she needs, throughout her life. To this point, she is now 3, she has already undergone one open heart surgery 6 months old known as the Glen procedure (http://www.smileyman.info/Glenn%20Procedure.htm), & several caths(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiac_catheterization) (I think 3). She is scheduled to have her 2nd open heart surgery this summer, known as the Fontan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fontan_procedure.svg). The family has been through many emotional struggles as a result of this. There have been times they didn’t think she would make it through a normal birth, and times they didn’t expect her to live past a few months, but time and time again she keeps fighting and proving her strength, thus the term “Libbi Strong”. We ask for all your prayers for Libbi this summer, and wear your shirts on July 23rd to show extra support, Mindi is a bit crazy and loves that kind of support.
Also if you want to see the history of Libbi, Mindi has done a great job of blogging about their journey at http://libbisblog.blogspot.com/.
She wants to make it very clear that this is NOT a fundraiser, (the goal is to break even), rather a way to show support for Libbi on her surgery day, and whenever you feel like being “Libbi Strong”.
Mindi has put a great deal of effort into designing, ordering and organizing the distribution of these shirts, so if you would like to support our little Libbi, there will be a sign up sheet in the CF area, she would like to place an order for the shirts by this coming Friday the 22nd.

Pioneer day WSU fireworks!

This is a big deal in Ogden. One of our FAVORITE nights of the summer! Buuuttt.... this year Libbi could not go :( Too many germs, and just 1 week before pre-op, it just wasn't worth it. She stopped by for a brief moment, but i put the kabosh on that quickly and whisked her away! We got a shake and watched from the mini van! It was not perfect (her words, not mine) but sometimes you gotta just roll with it!!!

.. here we go again.

7 days and counting. I can't believe we're doing the countdown thing AGAIN!! Ahhh! Its ok. We will make it. This week is going to be tough. Of course we want to PLAY PLAY and PLAY somemore.. But we also want her to stay healthy and well.. unfortunately the 2 don't work together. The crappy thing about sitting home (other than the obvious) is that everytime i think about leaving, or going somewhere, i'm reminded of why we can't, and my mind gets a rollin! Its not worth leaving. Germs are everywhere and i'm not risking her getting sick again. Today we are playing in the sprinklers. Tomorrow.. Wed.. Thurs.. Fri.. Sat.. Hmmm.. who knows what we'll do! Libbi would be perfectly content watching shows and playing at home, but the olders are not so content with that! Wish me luck!!! :) GNO every night this week?! I think so!!

I got kids meals last week and i requested 4 different books. Low and behold, Libbi pulls this out of her bag! The kids thought it was really funny and coincidental! I must agree.

Hike to the 'X'

We live by the U on the mountain. All summer Libbi keeps saying "I gonna climb to that X one day" Well, we decided it was time. We recruited some helpers, that have been there many times, and off we went!!

..a little help from Daddio

and of course some posing :)

When we got to the U she said "I Libbi Strong"
Ya. I know. I can't handle her.

Libbi needed some help, but she DID IT!! And she is soo proud that she hiked all the way up that mountain to the 'X'
Disclaimer: we drove most the way, the hike was about 20 minutes is all ;)

S-P-O-I-L-E-D

If Libbi says jump, dad jumps. If Libbi says wagon ride, dad pulls her, even if its 100 degrees and quite the walk to the park! Luckily Uncles James came to the rescue (Kurts that is..) and helped them out a bit! Ha ha! These Dixon brothers are quite the thinkers. No wonder Kurt likes Mcgyver!!

A day at the Zoo...

The little stink would not let me take her picture!!

Libbi was way tired and it was SOO hot, so she got carried around and spoiled a bit :) She loves the seals, that was for sure her favorite part of the good ol Zoo!!

Dr Rosey!

What a guy!! Dr Rose called from PCMC, he was up there to visit Libbi, however, she wasn't there! SOO He came to our house! Brought her a balloon and visited for a bit. Man, we're sure going to miss this man! He retired to go on a medical mission for the LDS Church with his wife.
*We just happened to have a few folks over playing night games, ALL of which were his patients! So fun!!

This is Paul Cardell's CHD video. (I put it at the bottom of the blog, it fits best there..) It is shocking how many people, young and old are dealing with the same type of things we are. Take 9 minutes and watch, these are some of the cutest babies i've seen!! Libbi is about 6 and a half minutes into the video. (make sure you scroll down and pause my music playlist so you can hear his music, he is a pianist, it is very pretty!)
