One whole month!!
We've been waiting for a call from Dr. Menon to let us know when we needed to follow up with him and today he called. I was a little nervous to answer because you never know where the ride will take us but luckily today we went up!! He said that after talking about Libbi with the other doctors and surgeons, they all felt like a check up in a month would be fine. ONE WHOLE MONTH until another check up! I can't tell you how great that felt! To know that she is good for a whole month with no check up tells me she is doing very well. I am so excited to get to live a somewhat normal life for a month! We still need to stay in and away from germs because if she were to get sick our month would be shortened. She got the RSV vaccine shot yesterday so that makes us feel a little better but the season is not over yet! We will be tag teaming this weekend so one of us can stay home with her and one of us can take the kids to do the fun Easter stuff! I'm so glad I have Kurt by my side, he is such a good husband and dad. I actually slept ALL night last night, that's right, from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am! Libbi only got up once at 3 and Kurt got up with her. Tonight is his night to sleep all night, i just hope she only gets up once for me! If not I won't mind snuggling with her all night long, she is so precious!! I will keep the updates coming and for one month they should just be normal baby stuff!! YAY!!!

Libbi's blessing
What a pretty little princess!!

When we got the news Friday that Libbi may need surgery we decided it would be best to get her blessed. We had a spur of the moment blessing on Sunday between conferences. Luckily we had a lot of family members that were able to make it but there were a few that were out of town or working. We are so lucky to have such good family support that are there when we need them, even if it is spur of the moment! Kurt gave the most amazing blessing I've ever heard, there was not a dry eye in the room (just ask my kids, they kept saying 'why is everyone crying') He said he didn't intend on making everyone cry but he did. The spirit was so strong in our home. It was neat to be able to bless her at home, we've never done that before. I am so grateful for a husband who holds the priesthood and is able to do these special blessings. I am so grateful for a Heavenly Father who loves me and loves my family. He is so forgiving and I am thankful for that. We are so blessed and lucky to have Libbi as a part of our family, she is so special.. Thanks everyone for making her day special too!! (and for getting all dressed up on conference Sunday..)
Her long pretty dress! This was Jerzi's dress.. It fit Libbi pretty good for only being 2 weeks old!

Libbi, our example
We went today for Libbi's heart cath, where they go into her veins in her thighs to test her pressures. She did amazing! I can't believe this little girl is so strong! I got to thinking this weekend about her and that she chose to come to this family and I'm sure she knew what she would have to endure, but yet she still wanted to come to this life. She has already been through so much in her short little life, I admire her strength. Today as i watched her come out of her anthesia i sat in awe. She had just gone through surgery and i'm sure was in alot of pain. She had a breathing tube that had been removed but her little cry was so raspy and you could tell it hurt. But yet she lay there just looking around at the world, barely even crying. I thought to myself, if anyone thinks they can't do it anymore, just think of this little girl who keeps on doing it! She keeps on trying and keeps on succeding! She keeps beating odds, she keeps striving to live. Every time she goes through something the nurses say she is amazing! "She's doing miraculous" is what they say. And I agree. She is miraculous!! As for tonight, she has bandages on both her thighs and she is hurting. Her cry breaks my heart. Her little eyes look as if she's been in a boxing match. Her other hand now bruised from her IV. But here she is, at home again. She is my example to keep on fighting and to strive to be the best I can be! I love her so much! They found today that she DOES NOT need the banding surgery after all! We are back to waiting as long as we can for the Glen. Hopefully 4-8 months. And now I am not even scared. I've seen this girl fight and fight and win and win and I know that she will do 'miraculous' when the time comes to have her surgery. I don't even doubt her anymore. She is "supergirl" without a doubt!!!!!!
Her poor little eyes. She looks like she's been hangin with Rocky!

Zona girlies
This weekend we had the privelage of meeting some new friends from Arizona. These girls are such an example to me right now. If you've been keeping up on the blogs listed on Libbi's blog these girls are Jersey and Jakes mamas. They are incredible. Heidi is on the left and Liz is on the right. They came to Utah for conference and we got to meet them and go to dinner with them last night, we had a great time! We laughed and talked and just got to know them. We didn't talk much about what they are going through but i'm sure it's rough, I can't even imagine. They are both so selfless and are working on projects to help out other heart babies and their families. Liz is collecting money for 'Jakeys blankies' to donate to the hospital in Arizona and Heidi is doing a Christmas in July for the hospital as well. If you want to donate to the blankies go to Jakes blog and if you have any fun ideas for Heidi and Christmas in July go to Jerseys blog (both on the side of this blog) These moms deserve the best, they are truely amazing! They are already planning a summer trip back to Utah with their kiddos, it's too hot in Arizona in the summer so it'll be perfect! Then when it gets cold this fall, we're heading to Zona to see their world! I'm so glad we got to meet them, we will be friends forever i'm sure! (maybe even relatives one day, ha ha ha..)

Libbi's checkup
Today we went to visit with Dr. Menon and it was exactly what we were expecting but we had convinced ourselves that what we were expecting was not what was going to happen, we were wanting our miracle!! Her oxygen level is too high, which when we left the hospital last week we knew that, but we were hoping it would drop. Dr's words were.. 'she's doing really good, too good..' What the crapola does that mean? Well apparantly it means possible surgery. So how does 'she's doing really good' equal surgery? Let me try and explain. In Ebsteins the main concern is not getting enough blood flow to the lungs, but because of her VSD she is getting too much blood to her lungs which could present problems when we do the Glen surgery (the one between 4 and 8 months). On Monday we will go and she will have a heart cathederization, which is where they go in through her veins in her thigh and test her oxygen, it's a more accurate testing than what they've been doing. It is a out-patient surgery so as long as she comes out of the anethesia well, we can come home Monday afternoon. They will then determine if she needs the banding surgery, and if she does it will be the following week. My biggest concern (other than the obvious) is that she can't eat past midnight on Sunday and we won't get there til 6 am, surgery not until 7:30 am! 7 and a half hours of not feeding a newborn?? Seriously?? How sad is that, the poor little bug is going to be starving, and we will be the meanies! She can have sugar water until 4:30 am and Kurt thinks that will be enough to hold her over but i know better. Us girls need our food! Wish us luck with that and hope for the best. (no banding surgery is the best) It's kind of a double edged sword situation because if the VSD starts to close and closes too fast she will need the Glen sooner, if it doesn't (which is what is happening) she will need the banding. Best case is that it closes a little bit more before Monday, and then stops closing for 4-8 months! That would be our miracle.

First Pictures!

Today we had the cutest girl come to our house and take some pics of Libbi. I was nervous about taking her anywhere so Ashley came to our house so we wouldn't have to leave. She was so sweet, Jerzi made a new best friend (sorry grammy). There will be many more pics to come but here is one to sneak peek at! Also check out her blog at artwithashley.blogspot.com to see a few more!! Thanks Ashley!!

What's going on??
I've been asked this question so many times that I figured I'd just post a quick update to tell you all that nothing is going on right now. Really. We will go on Friday for an MRI but it is just a check up, which we will be doing every 2 weeks for a while. If anything changes I PROMISE I will let everyone know! The heart monitor test Dr. Rose did came back fine and she is out of the lights. I like to live in denial for now, I have a happy newborn and am trying to adjust to just that. Thinking about her problems and what is to come only makes it that much harder! I know I am being very selfish but it is really hard for me to talk about Libbi's problem. I am SO appreciative of everyone's concern and I hope through this blog I can keep everyone informed without having to talk about it much. If you have questions call Kurt because he deals with it very well, I however do not. My baby is perfect and that's how I want it to stay! I don't want to admit anything is wrong with her because looking at her there is not a flaw! So there, i've said it, please don't just ignore me but lets just talk about normal stuff, like how she kept Kurt up from 2 to 5 last night! I feel so bad, he didn't even wake me. He is the greatest hubby and daddy in the whole world! I couldn't do this without him by my side! I love him to pieces. Jerzi is still un-phased but Koy has started to struggle a little..ok a lot! He is teasing, talking back, lying, and just being sad ALL the time. It breaks my heart to see him like this. I love him just as much as Libbi and I try to tell him that but it's not clicking. I think he is feeling a litte out of place or something. I tried taking him on a 'date' yesterday all alone but all we did was fight. I hope he snaps out of it because he is such a good kid! Today we have Kindergarten Round Up and he's excited for that! Maybe another special day alone will help. Libbi is not going with us, she will be with Grandma Jolene. (Grammy Deana was concerned I was taking her around kids) She is living in a bubble until RSV is over, the Dr. said if she got RSV it would be 'devastating' to her. Those were his words, if that isn't enough to scare the living daylights out of a mom i don't know what is! Don't be offended when we attack you with hand sanitizer if you come over! But we still love you all, just being cautious!! I know in my head that I need to be grateful she is doing so well and I have NO reason for being sad but my heart won't listen and it still hurts thinking about her and what is to come. I think when I was pregnant this wasn't real and now suddenly it is. I was so strong and I was really proud of myself but instantly it got way more real when she was born. I am scared to death and I don't know why she would have to go through this. She is just so little and innocent! All I have to do is squeeze her and kiss her perfect little cheeks and I feel better though. She is so precious!

This is Paul Cardell's CHD video. (I put it at the bottom of the blog, it fits best there..) It is shocking how many people, young and old are dealing with the same type of things we are. Take 9 minutes and watch, these are some of the cutest babies i've seen!! Libbi is about 6 and a half minutes into the video. (make sure you scroll down and pause my music playlist so you can hear his music, he is a pianist, it is very pretty!)
